Key Events Timeline - Baby Boomers

1948 - National Health Service established by post-war labour government.


1950+ - The launch of the television within households, firstly starting with black & white and minimal channels.


1955-1968 - The Civil Rights Movements for equality of African-Americans, influenced by Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr.


1963 - Assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy (JFK) - "News that shocked the world"


1963 - 'Great Train Robbery' in Britain yields £2.5 million for thieves.


1965 - Comprehensive education system is initiated that then served all pupils on an equal basis.


1969 - Man takes first steps on the moon - Neil Armstrong


1972 - Idi Amin expels Uganda's Asians and many settle in Britain after being given just 90 days to leave.
